Toronto, Canada, November 30, 2015 – When the Deaf Women’s National Team decided to travel to the World Cup in Italy, they knew that raising funds would be a challenge. Asking supporters to buy things they don’t need, or to donate cash is getting harder each year. With friends and family busy shopping for the holidays, they turned to Stack and FlipGive for help.

FlipGive allows teams and their supporters to shop from more than 100 retailers including Starbucks, Barnes and Noble, Under Armour, Nordstrom, Gap and Sephora, all of whom will give back between 5% and 25% of whatever is spent back to their team in cash.

The Deaf Women’s National Team created a fundraiser and within 2 weeks had already generated nearly $1,200 in funds – simply by sharing the link with friends and family. Through a holiday shopping program called the TeamShop Challenge, the Deaf Women’s National Team also earned top prize $300 for highest weekly raised amount. That’s a total raise of nearly $1,500 in a matter of days.

The idea for the fundraiser was sparked when the team saw a promotion for FlipGive through Stack, a sports media, training and technology company focused on amateur athletes. Stack partnered with FlipGive in 2015 to help athletes in just this way.

“From a stocking stuffer to trendy must-haves, what better way to make holiday shopping both efficient and meaningful,” says Mark Bachman, President, FlipGive. “Why not make your next Starbucks purchase or Barnes & Noble card a way to give back with a percentage of the sale going to a charity or personal cause.”

FlipGive provides a solution that’s easy to use and a definite win-win. To date, the company has helped raise more than $4 million across North America.

Mark Bachman adds, “Many youth sports organizations, as well as school and community-based programs across the country continue to struggle with raising money. Much of the burden of raising funds falls on the shoulders of parents who are both time-pressed and not equipped to run successful campaigns. FlipGive provides a new and easy way to raise money with a platform for the digital age — convenient, virtual, and limitless in terms of potential, especially around the holidays when people are going to be shopping anyway.”
