How To Host A 50/50 Raffle Fundraiser

A 50/50 raffle is a great way to raise money for your team, cause, or school, but it works best as a fundraiser if done at a large event. A 50/50 fundraiser works great at large sporting events like football or hockey games, or at large community events like BBQ’s or gala events.

How a 50/50 fundraiser is organized

a 50/50 fundraiser functions a lot like a raffle, except that instead of winning raffle prizes, you split the pot once the raffle is over. This is a super low maintenance fundraiser, because you don’t have to worry about prizing. You should however, have somewhere where the final tally of the 50/50 is available to supporters. This helps encourage excitement among participants, so that your team or cause can raise more money.

Rules of a 50/50 fundraiser

Anyone can purchase as many tickets as they want to for a fixed fee. Usually, tickets for your fundraiser that are purchased in bulk are available at a discounted price. Typically, participants have to be present at the time of the draw to win. So if this kind of fundraiser is something that is going on for an extended period of time, make sure the end date is clearly stated. It’s ideal if your draw period is at an event that is already taking place. This works twofold. It gives your supporters more time to buy tickets, and it encourages people to show up for your event.

Promotion and expenses

Have a flyer that outlines the details of your fundraiser and make sure that your community or team knows well in advance. All in all, a 50/50 raffle fundraiser is a fast and easy way to raise money for your team!
